The Train In The Park project was started in early 1998 by our membership to develop a new high class miniature railway in Greenhead Park. Huddersfield to Mark the occasion of the Millennium.
Working closely with our partners Kirklees Leisure and Recreation Services who manage the park, and Huddersfield Pride, an organisation to promote Huddersfield, we have developed a scheme that will enhance the park and its Victorian features. Whilst enabling our members to be able to run their locomotives we have improved our facilities so that we can allow more disabled passengers to be carried. Our aim is that our disabled members should also be fully able to benefit from the models they have produced.
We would also like to encourage school groups and other youth organisations to benefit from our new facilities to undertake joint projects to run and promote the railway.
The Project is now completed and passenger trains run most weekends (See Calendar) we are also the proud recipient of a number of donated rollingstock and engines ranging through Steam, Petro/Hydraulic to Electric.
