Help For Heroes PDF Print E-mail

On Easter Monday 2011 the railway ran the usual bank holiday service but with a difference this time. All the days takings plus a bucket collection was donated to Help For Heroes. The amount donated was £301.12 so a very big thank you to every one who came along and had a ride on the railway.

We are looking to do something like this every Easter Monday so if you would like to nominate a charity then it will be considered along with the other applications. All we need you to do is write down your nomination along with a contact name and number and bring it along to the park and give it to a railway member then leave the rest to us. So far for Easter 2012 the Air Ambulance is proving very popular.

Please have a look at this and pick an event you would like to attend and perhaps if you have a birthday on one of our event days you may wish to spend a few hours with us. We hope to see you again very soon.

Regeneration of Greenhead Park PDF Print E-mail

The work in the park is fully completed and it has made a big difference, we have new footpaths, lights, bandstand and the new lake which was brought back to life for the first time since the war. We have a family of ducks living on the pond what a joy it is. The conservatory has been completley refurbished and is serving food and drinks.

As you walk up in to the arena area the new look café has had major work done on it. This building has a multi use with a function room for meetings and also be a café. The park café backs right on to the station so you can have a brew then come for a ride on the train. The main arena area is once again ready to take heavy use for galas and other events so we very much hope to have the local events staged once again in the park.

The skateboard park I am told is hoping to have a facelift if funding is found.

Parking round the park is on the street and free on one side of the roads.
